Pat Mirenda, PhD, BCBA-D
Pat Mirenda is a Professor Emerita in the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology and Special Education at the University of British Columbia and past Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Collaboration in Autism (CIRCA). In 2004, she was named a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; and in 2008, she was named a Fellow of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. The fourth edition of her co-authored book “Augmentative and alternative communication: Supporting children and adults and complex communication needs” was published in 2013. Her current research includes a Canada-wide, longitudinal study of developmental trajectories in children with autism and a study of the effectiveness of parent coaching for toddlers at risk for autism.
