Approximately 95% of residents in long-term care require assistance with oral care but don’t receive it. The health consequences of poor oral health are significant. Poor oral care is linked with heart disease, stroke, diabetes, aspiration pneumonia, oral pain and depression due to social isolation related to difficulty speaking and eating. Find out how an oral care clinical practice standard was implemented and how it successfully impacted the oral health and wellbeing of residents at a long term care pilot site in Prince George, BC.
