This presentation will discuss the experience of a clinician-researcher partnership that developed a community-based study in a rural Northern Canadian town. The study explored the impact of a parent-child-teacher drawing activity on improving the oral language and emergent literacy skills of local preschool children. The study arose out of the real-world challenges of providing speech pathology services in a community with significant economic, social and health challenges. It will outline not only the results of the study but reflect on the challenges of clinician-researcher partnerships and community-based research.
