This will be a comprehensive review of ear pain. It will begin with a review of the anatomy of the ear, the skull base, and surrounding head & neck structures. It will briefly cover the physiology and management principles of pain. This will be followed by a subsite-based overview of clinical otalgia, covering pathophysiology and cases arising from the external ear, middle ear/mastoid, inner ear, skull base/intracranial space, and adjacent sites (i.e. referred otalgia).
