Understanding the Meaning of Parent-to-Parent Support

There is limited published evidence about the meaning of parent-to-parent (P2P) support for parents with children who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH). We undertook a research project with the aim to expand on the current knowledge of this phenomenon. This presentation provides results of a qualitative interpretive study where we interviewed parents who received P2P support as well as those who gave this support (parent guides). Results help us to understand the perceptions of parents regarding the meaning of P2P support and provides evidence on why this unique phenomenon should be considered an essential component to EHDI programs.
