Advanced Hearing Aid Verification: New Technologies for Best Practices

Modern hearing aid verification includes more than just fitting to targets. Starting from best practices for the basics, I’ll discuss new development for achieving and measuring speech audibility in quiet, along with the background evidence for continued use of this as a best practice. However, we’ll also explore other uses of hearing aid analyzers and real ear measurement, including techniques for verifying and fitting advanced signal processors, streaming, and niche hearing products. We will consider cases for whom music listening, cellphone listening, and use of remote microphones have been pivotal for full support of listening needs. The role of patient-oriented techniques will be emphasized as a way to link together technical measurements with patient preferences.
