Speech and Language Service Delivery Using a Neurodiversity Affirming Approach: The What, Why, Who, When, Where and How

In 2023, SLP Maps was launched to support Speech-language clinicians to align their practices with the values, needs and wants of the autistic community and families of autistic clients. In this session, we will draw from this work and explore models of understanding autism that have historically been used to inform research and practices, and consider the implications on the autistic community. Application of a critical analysis framework will be used to support clinicians to navigate the complex and continuous process of implementing neurodiversity affirming approaches within various aspects of their clinical care.
